Makeup and Hair Tips for Special Occasions

A guide to how to spruce up your hair and make up when you need that extra boost

Whether it is a wedding you are attending, a birthday party, or a high profile business event, for those particularly special occasions you will want to be looking your best.

Before the day in question it is recommended you complete some beauty rituals so you look on top form.  This includes eating healthily.

A healthy diet will mean your skin and hair looks vibrant and healthy, as every part of your body is affected by what you consume.  If you are trying to grow your nails for the big day too, then a healthy diet is vital otherwise they will be brittle and brake constantly.

Keep alcohol consumption to a minimum, and do not have a heavy night out a few days before as tiredness and stress also affects the way you look.

To make sure you look bright eyed and bushy tailed, get a good night’s sleep and do some exercise to get your blood pressure pumping – this also helps to reduce stress.

For those who have problem skin and do not smoke or eat unhealthily, you could treat yourself to a facial a few days before the big day - or for a cheaper alternative give yourself one.  You can buy some good detox, cleansing, or exfoliating face masks from the high street shops, and they work by refreshing tired looking skin.

If you suffer from a dry scalp then some shampoos like head and shoulders can quickly treat this in time for the big day, so you do not have to worry about wearing dark colours.  While for limp and flat hair Pantene reviews have come out well, so are well worth the investment to add volume to damaged and dry locks.

Keep your skin hydrated before your special occasion, this is important as makeup will flake off and look uneven on dry skin.  To maintain your skin, always remove your make up with a gentle cleanser before going to bed at night, and invest in an exfoliating scrub.  If you exfoliate your face gently once or twice a week it will get rid of dry and dead skin that lies on the surface.

When you apply moisturiser to exfoliated skin it is more likely to work and nourish your skin as opposed to hydrating already dead skin cells, which may even clog up your pores.

For smooth legs, why not treat yourself to a wax, this will mean you do not need to worry about shaving the morning or night of your do, and can concentrate of doing your hair and makeup instead.  However, leave enough time after your wax for the red marks to go down, usually a day or two.
